Bader & Sons Co. was established in the summer of 1988 by James E. Bader and his wife, Valma when they purchased the St. Louis Store. John Deere Farm equipment has been part of the Bader family for four generations. In the 1930’s Charles Bader became the proprietor of the dealership (Charles Bader Implement) in Reese, MI, and operated it with his sons.

Later Charles’ son James G. Bader (Jim’s Dad) sold his interest of the business to his brother in Reese and started Jim Bader & Sons Co. in Sandusky. It was eventually taken over by Jim’s two sons, James E.(Jim) and Donald (Don). Jim and Don ran the store in Sandusky for several years until Jim sold his share to his brother. In 1988 Jim was offered the opportunity to buy the John Deere dealership in St. Louis. Jim had two sons, Paul and Mark, who were interested in the business. He also had green blood in his veins so he decided to give it another try. Jim and Valma opened Bader & Sons Co. in St. Louis on June 8, 1988.

In March of 2000 Jim passed away from a fast growing cancer. Valma, Paul, and Mark took over the reins and continued to grow the business. Over the next 5 years they added 4 more stores under Bader & Sons Co. with locations in Portland, Grand Ledge, Mount Pleasant, and Linwood. In March of 2009 Bader & Sons Co. again decided to expand and acquired Hoyt E. Weylan in Tecumseh, MI. Shortly after that in the spring of 2009 tragedy struck the store in Mt. Pleasant. A fire devastated the property and there was not much left when the flames were finally extinguished. To better serve the Ag customers to the north it was decided to rebuild in Rosebush, MI. Currently Bader & Sons Co. employs over 150 people in central and lower Michigan. We offer parts, service, and sales of new and used farm and lawn and garden equipment. We can serve you with quality equipment, factory trained service technicians, and the largest parts department in the area. We want to thank all of our customers for helping to make us a success.
